Congrats to our new volunteer responder recruits!

In our last newsletter, we reported on our “bumper crop” of new volunteer responder recruits. The town of Harpswell had a total of 12 new EMTs, who completed training and certified in January 2026. Six of those were from OBIFD:

OBIFD Assistant Chief, Sean Hall, says he is expecting another four to six recruits for the Fall ’26 EMT training and is hoping it will be at SMCC’s Brunswick Campus.

Of the six, five are now attending the Fire Academy and will complete their training in June.  Successful completion means they will be certified Firefighters I and 2 and can do both exterior and interior structural firefighting. One of the six, Jeff Good, has joined Mason Smith and Sean Hall in the Advanced EMT training program.
