"As I type this, I’ve just learned of the passing of Mike Drake. Mike was the Fire Administrator for the Town of Harpswell since August 2023. Prior to that he served as a paid firefighter for the Town of Harpswell, a volunteer firefighter and former Asst. Fire Chief for the West Bath Fire Department, a long career as a firefighter-paramedic with the City of Bath Fire Department, and an instructor for the Tri-County Training Association. He was known for his passion for the craft, and for sharing that passion with the next generation of firefighters. In his time with the Town of Harpswell he coordinated such activities as working with FEMA after back-to-back January Nor’easters in 2024; working closely with the Fire Departments and others on planning for trail rescues, coordinating repair and replacement of fire hydrants, and so many other jobs that helped in every way. He will be remembered in Harpswell and the Midcoast area for his quality and spirit.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. Following will be fireman honors at the West Bath Fire Department with a gathering of family and friends.
