Fire and Rescue Accession Program
Our Fire and Rescue Accession Program offers a structured and supervised program for residents of Harpswell aged 16 to 30 to explore and gain experience with the various aspects of fire and rescue services. The program’s objective is to prepare a new generation of first responders willing and able to participate as active volunteers or town employees in the delivery of safety and emergency services throughout our community.
FRAP provides both an engaging educational as well as a social opportunity. During regular meetings with their peers, members work together learning about and practicing valuable skills in rescue and emergency services that are used regularly by first responders. Plans are to extend the experience to include participation in an annual Firefighter Muster featuring skills demonstrations, competitions, and other activities.
FRAP meets once a week at one of the town’s emergency fire and rescue service facilities.
If you would like to know more about whether FRAP is for you, we offer a trial period to attend three meetings before making a decision. But the first step is to fill out the interest form below. You can also reach out to FRAP directly by emailing Meriel Longley at mlongley@town.harpswell.me.us.
