![]() The “Bailey Island Antique” is a 1954 Ford, purchased new from the local Ford dealer. Rich in heritage, there are several islanders who recall responding to fires in this now vintage pumper. If you have memories to share, would like to volunteer time or skill, or wish to support the project, please contact the Pete at p1nikitas@gmail.com. ![]() As part of a “rolling restoration” we’ve recently upgraded the brakes, converted to an electronic ignition and from a 6 volt positive ground system to a 12 volt negative ground. New tires have been purchased and will be installed shortly. Next will be to swap the transmission for something a little “gentler”! We’ll be more visible in town as the weather improves in ‘22, but watch for us - we are on the road!

Six Harpswell volunteers recently graduated from firefighter training programs, giving the town it’s biggest public safety boost in years.
Three men each from the Orr’s and Bailey Islands and Cundy’s Harbor fire departments successfully finished months of training required to become certified interior attack firefighters, allowing them to enter burning buildings in teams to rescue anyone trapped inside and put out structure fires. |
