26th Annual Auction and Yard Sale
August 10 and 11, 2019
Our annual auction and yard sale is held on the second full weekend of August every year on the grounds of our main fire station and inside the old Orr's Island Schoolhouse on Harpswell Islands Road, Route 24, on Orr's Island in Harpswell (get directions in new window).
A giant yard sale of thousands of donated items is held indoors and out on both days.
A silent auction of goods, services and experiences donated by area businesses is open on both days until noon on Sunday. To donate a silent auction item, click here.
The live auction begins at 10 a.m. Sunday, with preview starting at 9 a.m. To donate a live auction "experience item", please click here.
Cooked-to-order Breakfast, lunch, snacks and desserts are offered for sale on both days.

More than 100 items will be up for auction, including bureaus, desks, beds, mirrors, chairs, art, antiques, collectibles and other unique items and experiences. Plus lots more for sale at the Saturday-Sunday Yard Sale, and at the Silent Auction on both days!

Drop Off Your Auction Donations

Want to unload some items, get a tax deduction and help keep our community safe? Please consider donating to our annual auction and yard sale.
We are looking for wooden furniture, antiques, artwork, nautical items, historical artifacts, household items, tools, unique kitsch, and more, including cars, trucks, trailers and boats.
However, we have learned over the years that certain items are difficult to sell and present us with disposal problems.
While we sincerely appreciate your offers, we cannot accept the following, regardless of condition:
If you are interested in donating items, please email or call us at 207-833-5405 and leave a message. We can arrange a time for you to deliver the items to us, or we can come and get them from you.
Please do not ever leave anything at our fire stations unattended.

- Anything that is broken (we can make minor repairs to nice furniture)
- Most large or small electrical appliances, especially microwave ovens, vacuums, dehumidifiers, electric stovetops, irons, hair dryers or toasters
- Lights with outdated wiring or plugs
- Computer equipment, including printers
- Picture tube type TVs and computer monitors
- Couches or other stuffed furniture
- Mattresses and box springs
- Particleboard furniture
- Exercise equipment
- Used baby equipment, including cribs and playpens
- Ski gear
- Golf clubs
- Aquariums
- Hard-sided luggage and suitcases
- Building materials
- Lighting fixtures
- Plastic storage containers and cups
- Clothing
- Used linens and other fabrics
- Books, CDs and DVDs (can be donated to the Orr's Island Library)

Volunteers Needed
Come give back to the community, have a great time and get to know many of your wonderful neighbors by volunteering to help at our annual auction and yard sale.
The massive community event requires dozens of volunteers to help with everything, including collecting and sorting donations, setting up, selling at the yard sale, recording bids, moving items, serving food, traffic and parking control, cleanup, and more. There are roles for everyone, before, during and after the big weekend.
Volunteers get early access to the sale, a free T-shirt, free food and the appreciation and admiration of everyone at OBIFD and throughout the community.
