The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the Department including: the Department’s fiscal policies; receipt and payment of funds; and budget preparation (with assistance from the Fire Chief, Rescue Captain, Funding Committee Chair, and Finance Committee Chair). The Treasurer will also provide written monthly financial reports to keep OBI’s officers and Board members informed of the Department’s financial status. The Treasurer must be bondable (i.e., insurable). With the Executive Committee’s concurrence, the Treasurer may arrange funding for outside accounting services, including bookkeeping, billing, audit and other financial services. S/he may also authorize the issuance of debit cards to selected personnel to expedite payment of routine and unplanned expenses (see Section VIII B).
